  • FAQ

Why isn't this already included in my Club Fees?

This program is designed for the player who wants that competitive edge and desires to practice outside of practice to hone and perfect their skill. This additional training gives them more reps and deeper insight into the game than what can be accomplished during team practices and allows for more in-depth training for players that want it and desire to go to the next level.

Will my daughter get more playing time?

RVC's philosophy is "Play to Win" and to put the best players on the court at any given time to give the team the best chance to win, team line-ups are at the coach's discretion. Protecting and maintaining the integrity of our beliefs and values are paramount for us. We believe that players always get out, what they put into their training, and the more reps they get only helps, but play time is always earned without bias including being enrolled into the Grindstone Club.

Can I cancel my membership at anytime?

No. We design and budget our program based on the number of players that choose to commit. This allows us to properly plan on the number of coaches, training material and court time we need.

If I don't book my sessions for the month do I get a credit? or do they rollover?

No, if you do not book your allotted sessions for the month there is no credit and sessions do not accumulate and rollover to be used the next month. It is a use or lose program.

Grindstone membership will be capped Registration Opens in July

By accepting, I acknowledge and agree that it is my intent for my daughter to play for RVC during the entire 2020-2021 Season. I understand that by accepting the offer I am legally obligated to pay the $550 non-refundable deposit to secure a spot on the team for my daughter at the time of acceptance through the team registration process.

I understand that my daughter may be able to move up in the program if the opportunity becomes available. I also acknowledge that my accepting and agreeing to this contract is not predicated on any conditions outside this document. I understand the non-refundable deposit of $550 will be applied to the club dues for the season.  By accepting I also agree to pay according to the payment schedule set forth by the Club.

Please note, your offer/position is Time Sensitive. Delay in accepting your offer may result in your spot being filled and your offer becoming null and void.

Your offer is not secure until your offer is accepted and deposit has been paid.

    Payment of Fees

It is my daughter’s desire and intent to play with RVC for the entire 2020-2021 Season.  I understand that my daughter’s acceptance of the position offered obligates me to pay the required club registration fees.  I expressly acknowledge and agree to this full amount as a contractual obligation regardless of whether my daughter voluntarily leaves, is injured for the remainder of the season, or is suspended or expelled from RVC prior to the end of the 2020-2021 Season.

    Late/Non-Payment of Fees

If payment is not received by the 20th of the month, the player will be ineligible to participate in practices and games until payment due is tendered in full. NOTE: Any payments made later then the 20th of the month will be subject to a $50 late fee.

RVC has a no-pay, no-play policy. This means failure to fulfill your financial obligations (including travel expenses) to RVC, according to the contract and payment option selected, can result in a player’s playing privileges being suspended, and can include being suspended from attending practices, Powers, and tournament play.

In addition, if a player’s account is not paid in full by the conclusion of the season, it will result in the player being placed on the “Hold List” with RMR.  This will result in the player’s playing privileges being suspended until the obligations are fulfilled. This will also impact the player’s ability to register with RVC or any other club in the RMR next year.

If there are multiple players from one family, the entire family balance must be paid or the amount is then transferred to any remaining players within the family on the hold list.  Any leftover balance past September 1st of 2021 may be turned into collections and/or small claims court. In the event the account is assigned for collection, the account holder (parent) is responsible for all costs of collection including, but not limited to, the collection fees, attorney fees and court costs.

    Travel Tournament & Expenses

I understand that I am required to share in team expenses during the course of the season, including travel expenses associated with attending out-of-state tournaments, and that this is in addition to and not included in the club registration fees. Payments must be made by the due date set by RVC. Each player is responsible for all travel fees associated tournaments.

Team Expenses include, but are not limited to:

  • Head coach: travel (airfare or bus), hotel stay, and food cost
  • Assistant coach (if applicable): travel (airfare or bus), hotel stay, and food costs
  • Team mom: travel (airfare or bus), hotel stay, and food costs
  • Player’s: travel (airfare or bus), hotel stay, and food costs
  • Special events (if applicable) ie. Universal Theme Park Tickets
  • Rental vans/cars, taxis, and/or shuttle services for the team
  • Tournament Team Entry fees
  • For this particular team, they will attend see below "Out of State Tournaments"

  • Relentless Teams
  • 3 Out of State Tournaments

  • Grind Teams (except 12s & 13s)
  • 2 Out of State Tournaments

  • Hustle Teams (except 12s & 13s)
  • 1 Out of State Tournaments

  • Work Teams
  • None

If a team qualifies for the GJNC then they are required to attend that tournament, according to USAV rules.  2021 GJNC will be held TBD

By accepting this contract, you are acknowledging that this player is committed to attending all of the travel trips with this team and if they do not attend, then you are still responsible to pay travel fees in full and in accordance by the due dates set by the club.

***NOTE: RVC reserves the right to cancel travel tournaments prior to incurring any travel related expenses, at the absolute and sole discretion of the club.***

As such, I understand that my daughter is not guaranteed to play in a travel tournament, and the decision of RVC to not provide a travel tournament for my daughter’s participation does not relieve me of my legal and contractual duty to pay.

Each player has the option to fundraise to defray any expenses. All funds collected to cover these expenses will be deposited in your Individual Players RVC Account – not a team account. These funds remain with RVC should the player leave the club and are not available for cash withdrawal at any point. All fundraising money collected can be used towards anything within the RVC walls: extra uniform or practice gear, fan gear apparel, dues, travel, lessons, or camps. No one is required to fundraise during the season, it is up to each individual to do as much or as little fundraising as they would like.

    Coaching Decisions

I understand that my daughter may be moved up or down teams during the course of the season (within USAV age definition rules) including but not limited to; player performance, player attitude, and team need.  This decision is at the discretion of RVC.  I understand that this is in the sole and absolute discretion of RVC, and that in doing so, it does not relieve me of my legal and contractual obligation to pay any dues owed to RVC.

    Playing Time

RVC competes at a Competitive level, and there is NO guarantee of playing time during the season. Players are expected to earn their playing time through hard-work at practice, or extra time outside of practice through lessons by a RVC coach. I understand that I do not pay for my daughter’s playing time, but rather for the training that the player receives through practices/training.

We agree to the following about how to handle any issues we may have about playing time during the season:

  • The player needs to approach their coach and ask, “What do I need to do to get more play time?”

    24hr. Rule

RVC has a 24-hour rule when talking with coaches or any RVC staff at ANY Power or Tournament. This is in place to protect coaches, players and parents from unnecessary problems. Parents are required to refrain from talking with any coach or RVC Staff about playing time issues, coaching issues, etc. during this 24-hour period. When in a competitive setting and if emotions are high, things can escalate quickly and easily, and then the conversation is not going to be productive. This does not mean you cannot talk to the coach, just that you must wait to discuss things about play until at least 24 hours after the tournament is over.

Communication is considered to be in person, by phone, text messages and emails. This is a widely-used practice among volleyball programs and is suggested to us by USA Volleyball. Failure to follow this rule may result in your daughter’s inability to play on the court at the next scheduled event. This rule is to not be taken lightly, and is considered to be a serious topic for RVC.

    Grievance Policy

We agree to follow RVC’s rule on how to handle issues we may have during the season. If we are having any issues we feel should be brought to the attention of the coach or RVC Administration, we will use the following as a stepping stool to do so:

  • With regard to issues with other parents, we will first talk with the coach. If it still does not get resolved, we will contact Ericka
  • For issues with coaches, we will contact Ericka
  • For issues with other players, we will first talk with the coach. If it does not get resolved, we will then contact Ericka
  • Consent to Photography and Imaging

We give RVC express and written consent to release and/or reproduce images that may be taken of my child during the course of the season. These images may appear in future promotional materials or on the RVC website. These images may also be made available to consenting players and their families, as well as to participating teams, for purchase. We further release RVC from any and all liability and waive all rights and claims connected to publication, display, copyright, and distribution of any photographic images.

    Communication Policy

We understand that it is our responsibility to review any and all information distributed through the RVC Website, RVC App and RVC Newsletters. We will check email regularly for updates and information from RVC and its staff. Failure to comply with any policies, rules or procedures promulgated and made available through these means of communication does not constitute a proper excuse for failing to comply.

    Player's Code of Ethics

By participating on an RVC team, I agree I will engage in the following behavior:

    • I will encourage good sportsmanship from fellow players, coaches, officials and parents at all times. I will always remember that volleyball is an opportunity to learn and have fun.

    • I deserve to play in an environment that is free of drugs, tobacco and alcohol: and expect everyone to refrain from their use at all volleyball training and matches.

    • I will do the best I can each day, remembering that all players have talents and weaknesses the same as I do.

    • I will treat my coaches, other players and coaches, game officials, other administrators, and fans with respect at all times; regardless of race, sex, creed or abilities and I will expect to be treated accordingly.

    • I will not curse at any time wearing RVC apparel, especially on the court.

    • I will concentrate on playing volleyball, always giving my best effort.

    • I will play by the rules at all times and will control my temper, resisting the temptation to retaliate.

    • My conduct during competition towards play of the game and all officials shall be in accordance with appropriate behavior, and in adherence to RMR/USAV rules.

    • I will not disparage others, including my teammates, coach and club, on any social media platform.

    • While traveling, I will conduct myself so as to be a credit to myself, my team, and RVC.

    • Alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco products and unauthorized prescription drugs shall not be possessed, consumed or distributed before, during or after any game or at any time.

I understand and agree that if I/my daughter violates any of the above Player’s Code of Ethics, I/she may be subject to suspension or expulsion, at the sole discretion of RVC, and that I will not be entitled to a refund.

    Parent's Code of Ethics

By participating as a spectator at RVC, RMR, AAU, JVA and USAV Sanctioned events, I agree I will engage in the following behavior:

    • I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, game officials, and administrators at all times.

    • I will support the coaches, officials, and administrators working with my child, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.

    • I will remember that the game is for the players, not for the adults.

    • I will ask my child to treat other players, coaches, game officials, administrators, and fans with respect.

    • I will always be positive.

    • I will always allow the coach to be the only coach, by refraining from coaching from the sidelines, as it only confuses the players on the court.

    • I will not enter into arguments with the other team’s parents, players, or coaches.

    • I will not enter the court for any reason during the game.

    • I will not criticize game officials, before, during or after the game.

    • Alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco products and unauthorized prescription drugs shall not be possessed, consumed or distributed before, during, after the game or at any other time at the court.

I understand my failure to comply may result in the suspension of my/my daughter’s privilege to participate in RMR/USAV sanctioned events.

I understand and agree that if RVC is charged at any time by the RMR for my actions, or the actions of anyone in my family, or by anyone who attends an RMR event on behalf of my daughter, then I am responsible for paying back RVC for the full amount of the fee within 20 days of the offense.

Should I or my daughter wish to be released, I understand that I will be required to fulfill all financial obligations noted above, including the travel expenses expected for the out-of-state tournaments so the extra cost does not get passed on to the rest of the team. If this is not completed, my daughter will be placed on the RMR hold list and prevented from playing from any other club in the future until it is paid in full and/or the account will be turned over to a collection agency or smalls claims court if it is not paid by September 1st, 2021.

This is subject to exception for a season ending injury.  The injury must be assessed by a medical professional and presented with a signed note. The “season ending injury” must have occurred during a RVC practice, RMR Power/Tournament, Crossroads, or any other travel tournament. Importantly, I will still be required to pay any remaining dues, and will only be exempt from the travel expenses agreed to above.

    Responsibilities and Obligation

I understand that RVC will take reasonable steps to provide a safe, fun and instructional environment for the Members of the club to participate in and play the game of volleyball.

Notwithstanding, we understand that there are some inherent risks associated with playing competitive sports and agree to hold harmless RVC Inc., its Directors, Coaches and Training Staff in the event of an injury.

    Informed Consent

It is expressly agreed that the use of the RVC Facility, or satellite locations and/or participation in RVC sponsored activities or events shall be undertaken by a member at their sole risk, and RVC shall not be held liable for any injuries or any damage to any member or property arising from participation in the activity or event or transportation to or from the activity or event, whether or not caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the RVC.

RVC shall not be responsible or liable to members for articles damaged, lost or stolen in or about the Club area or for loss or damages to any property including but not limited to automobiles and the contents thereof.

Express Agreement to All Club Rules, Policies, and Procedures

I understand the rules, policies and procedures contained herein are not fully inclusive. Amendments to the Club rules and regulations may be made from time to time.

We further agree we are of sound mind, and acknowledge we have been provided with an opportunity to obtain independent legal advice with respect to this agreement, and that we either:

    (i). Had such independent legal advice prior to executing this agreement, or;

(ii). Willingly chosen not to obtain such advice and to execute this agreement without having obtained such advice.

    Waiver & Release

IN CONSIDERATION of being allowed to participate in any way in the program, related events and activities of RVC, I understand, acknowledge, appreciate and agree that:

    1. The risk of injury from the activities involved in this program is significant, including the potential for permanent paralysis and death, and while particular rules, equipment and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious injury does exist and,

    2. I KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, both known and unknown, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES or others, and assume full responsibility for my participation; and,

    3. I willingly agree to comply with the stated and customary terms and conditions for participation. If, however, I observe any unusual significant hazard during my presence or participation, I will remove myself from participation and bring such to the attention of the nearest staff immediately and,

    4. I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY RELEASE, INDEMNIFY, AND HOLD HARMLESS RVC, its owners, coaches, trainers, officials, agents and/or employees, other participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the event (RELEASEES), WITH RESPECT TO ANY AND ALL INJURY, DISABILITY, DEATH, or loss or damage to person or property, WHETHER ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

This is to certify that I, as parent/guardian with legal responsibility for this participant, do consent and agree to his/her release as provided above of all the Releases, and for myself, my heirs, assigns, and next of kin, I release and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any and all liability incidents to my minor child’s involvement or participation in these programs as provided above, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Running a travel club sports organization isn't just a lot of work, it is a complicated and expensive operation. RVC has to budget and pay for tournaments, our facility, gear, travel, coaching stipends, insurance, and administration costs (just to name a few). If a player drops from the team, none of these costs change. The Club still has to pay the same amount, but our revenue drops by 1/10th.

Parents’ point of view is understandable. If a player leaves the team mid-season, parents want to be refunded the team fees they’ve paid for the remainder of the season. They feel like they’re being asked to pay for something they’re no longer getting.

The money that you're paying as a parent isn't just for your child, it's for the team as a whole to be able to function. In order for teams to exist, we have a strict NO REFUND policy.

We currently offer 3 payment plan options, our most popular option is our "Flex Option" and 88% of our families choose this option to pay for their players Club Fees. We offer this monthly option to cover costs throughout the season rather than charging for everything up front.

When a player leaves the team, parents don’t keep making the monthly payments since their child is no longer playing, leaving the Club at a loss. When this happens and a player leaves, RVC does not pass the cost onto the rest of the team and does not increase the cost of club fees, or travel trips to make up for the loss.

Refund Policy: All services rendered by RVC are provided on a non-refundable basis. All payments made to RVC become completely non refundable.

    COVID-19 Related Exception Refund Policy:

In response to COVID-19 and the unprecedented impact it has had on the world and specifically as it pertains to youth sports we have created our COVID-19 Refund Policy. These uncharted waters has created a new issue of having to deal with the reality of refunds, it can be a friction point between the Club and Parents. Each side has its own perspective, and they both make sense.

Given the fluidity of the COVID-19 situation it is an extreme challenge to create a comprehensive refund policy when the future is so uncertain, ever changing and out of everyone's control. While it's hard to speculate what the future holds we are hopeful that we can begin and end the season without interruption, however we have tried to plan for some potential scenarios and while some of our policies address some unlikely circumstances there are some that are a very real possibility. We instituted our refund policy with our RVC Family in mind as well as RVC remaining viable for years to come. While some may not agree with our refund policy it's important to remember that just like our RVC Families we too have financial obligations, from our lease, paying our coaching staff, to the increase of cost of PPE and sanitation products. We thank you for your patronage and are believing for a great season ahead but in the event that life stops again we have you in mind.

All aspects and scenarios of refunds that pertain to COVID-19 related cancellations and closures are ONLY applicable to players accounts that are current and in good standing. The cost of the uniform package is not refundable. Refunds will only be issued in the event that RVC is mandated by either local, state, or federal officials to cease operation due to COVID-19 exclusively. In the event that RVC is required to close and cease operation, refunds will be issued according to our refund policies listed below.

If a complete shut down is required and mandated by local, state, or federal officials the percentage of refund will be dependent upon the date that the shutdown is issued. The definition of a complete shut down as it pertains to our refund policy is as follows; Access to the facility is prohibited by law, and or restrictions in place would not permit volleyball related training in any practical manner.

The percentage that is eligible for a refund is contingent on the date that the shut down occurs in accordance with the REFUND TABLE below. If a complete shut down occurs after the tenth of the month then the percentage of the refund would be in accordance with the following month.

Example: Shut down is effective Dec. 8th, 82% of monies paid will be refunded, if Shut down occurs after Dec 10th then 71% of monies will be refunded.

This table is for the percentage of refund that will be issued in the event of a COVID-19 complete shut down as it pertains to refund policy above.

The reason for the substantial gap of refund available between January and February is due to the fact that if play was to stop as of Feb. 1st, players would've participated in a minimum of 2-3 events and our Club costs increase drastically once the season begins from team entry fees, paying coaches as well as continual admin costs.

In the event that there is a temporary shut down and RVC is not open for operation, and then is able to return to play at a later date with-in the season the following policy will take effect.

In the event a temporary shut down takes place and then restrictions are lifted at a later date, allowing return to play, all club obligations and fees will resume at a percentage of the original amount of Club Fees minus the uniform package. A refund will be issued as applicable and according to the date that the shut down occurs (refer to complete shut down w/o return to play refund table). Original Club Fees will be calculated according to the payment plan the member is enrolled in. Accounts will be required to be brought current in order for players to return to play. Please refer to the REFUND TABLE for COMPLETE SHUT DOWN w/RETURN TO PLAY percentages.

Example #1: Member's Original Club Fees are $3515 and member is enrolled in the Flex Payment Option which includes a $95 processing fee, the original club fee calculation would be $3610 not $3515. A complete shut down occurs Dec. 8th, a refund of 82% of monies paid will be issued back to member. In this scenario with the member on the Flex Payment Plan they would've paid a total of $1968 up to this point, resulting in a refund back to the member of $1613.76. During the shut down payments would be suspended and credit cards not charged. Then return to play resumes Feb. 1st, resulting in a loss of 60 days of no play. 66% of the original club fees ($3610) are required to be paid by Mar. 15th = $2382.60. The discounted balance will be spread out evenly over the number of installments remaining till Mar. 15th.

  • Club Fees = $3515 + $95 processing fee = Original Club Fee calculation $3610
  • Shut down occurs Dec. 8th resulting in a 82% refund back to member = $1613.76
  • No fees are charged during shut down
  • Return to play resumes Feb. 1st resulting in 60 days of no play
  • 66% of original club fee calculation required to return to play = $2382.60
  • Installment of $1191.30 due Feb. 1st and is required for player to return to play
  • Installment and balance of $1191.30 due Mar. 15th
  • Member is paid in full and player finishes out the season and ending in either the end of April or June

This table is for the percentage of refund that will be issued in the event of a COVID-19 complete shut down with a return to play as it pertains to refund policy above.

If RVC is able to remain in operation and provide training to athletes but is unable to attend Powers or other events due to cancellation for the sole purpose related to COVID-19 then only the team entry fee will be refunded in proportion to the number of players per team and the cost of the entry fee, provided that the tournament/event issues a refund to RVC for the entry fee. The percentage of refund for the month that the event falls in would NOT be refunded IF RVC is still able to operate according to local, state, and federal guidelines.

Example: Tournament in February is cancelled and team entry fee is $895 and the team consists of 10 players, each player would be refunded $89.50 and if RVC is still able to operate, you would not receive the additional 40% refund for the cancellation of the tournament occurring in February.

If a "Shut Down" occurs within 48hrs. prior to the date that an installment is scheduled to be charged the payment will not be charged and payments will be suspended until such time that RVC is able to resume operation. If the shut down occurs the same day as installment is scheduled to be processed and is charged then a refund will be issued.

For those who sign up for our Grindstone program, and are enrolled in the monthly payment option and the program is interrupted and training is unable to take place then payments will be suspended and cancelled till training can resume. For those who enroll in the upfront option and receive the discount, a refund will be issued and prorated for time missed. This is ONLY applicable to accounts that are current and in good standing.

We really appreciate our RVC Family and are excited for the upcoming season!
